EMI / EMC & Wireless TestING Laboratory
Products improve. Standards change. Test labs must also.Since our inception in 1996, Compliance Worldwide has offered customer focused EMC / EMI Testing Services for the New England marketplace. Our brand has always been about providing an extra level of service during the testing process that others do not.
We are consistently improving and upgrading our testing facility.
The Laboratory
Our facility located in Sandown, New Hampshire is conveniently located in the southeastern part of the state for the New England customer base. It contains top-notch equipment, office space, and a number of testing laboratories, including:
- a compact semi-anechoic 3-Meter Chamber
- a 3/10-Meter Enclosed Open Area Test Site with 10-foot Turntable
- a 3-Meter OATS Site dedicated to testing devices above 1 GHz
- Dedicated ground plane for testing Conducted Emissions, Electro-Static Discharge (ESD), Electrical Fast Transients (EFT), Lightning Surge, Conducted Radio Frequency Immunity (CRFI), Power Frequency Magnetic Fields (MAG) and Voltage Dips and Short Interruptions (VDIPS).
- A weather enclosed Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Test Site
Wireless Laboratory Capabilities
Our wireless testing services require a measured radiated emission from 10 kHz to 40 GHz on a regular basis. For other technologies, we measure to a 100 GHz or even 237 GHz when necessary. The majority of product technologies we test are:
- Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) (aka Indoor GPS) using Ultra Wideband (UWB) Technology
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Classic Bluetooth 802.15
- RFID (125 kHz, 13.56 MHz, 865-868 MHz, 902-928 MHz)
To configure Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices for FCC, ISED & ETSI standards and the European receiver requirements under the Radio Equipment Directive, we have used chipset software tools from:
- Texas Instruments
- Nordic Semiconductor
- Dialog
- ST Microelectronics
Recent Laboratory Improvements
- an additional, smaller 1” waveguide penetration to our 3-Meter Compact Semi-Anechoic chamber.
- additional bulkhead connectors to a pass-through panel for common support equipment cables such as Ethernet and USB.
- Larger RF Amplifiers for Radiated Immunity testing from 80 MHz to 6 GHz, generating 20V/m 80% AM, and 28 V/m Pulsed modulated signals
- a new horn antenna for Radiated Immunity testing over the range of 400 MHz to 6 GHz.
- a new calibration fixture for our Bulk Current Injection Probe (BCIP) that meets the insertion loss requirements of IEC 61000-4-6:2013 Edition 4 for our existing BCIP.
- a new lightning surge coupling network for 2, 4, 6 and 8-wire high speed symmetric lines in accordance with IEC 61000-4-5:2014 Edition 3 standard.
Capabilities
Testing is available for each of the following CE Marking Tests
- Conducted Emissions including “Clicks”
- Radiated Emissions
- Disturbance Power Emissions
- Harmonics and Flicker Emissions (H&F)
- Electro-Static Discharge (ESD)
- Radiated RF Immunity (RFI)
- Electrical Fast Transients (EFT)
- Lightening Surge (Surge)
- Conducted RF Immunity (CRFI)
- Power Frequency Magnetic Fields (Mag)
- Voltage Dips, Interruptions and Short Variations (VDips)
Emissions
Electromagnetic emissions start with the radio frequency energy generated in a product via clocks, oscillators, processors and switching power supplies. This “noise” is then coupled out the power back onto the power line in the form of Conducted Emissions. Then, it flows out of the enclosure, on power and I/O cables into free space environment around the product known as Radiated Emissions.
Telecom
Devices that connect to the wired public switched telephone network (PSTN) requires testing to verify no harm comes to the system. We test all types of telephone interfaces including Loop Start, Ground Start, DID, E&M, DS-1 (T1), E1, E3, Subrate (DDS), ISDN BRI, ISDN PRI, xDSL and VoIP
Laboratory
Just as products are improving and standards are advancing, so too must the testing facility. As evidenced by our recent updates, we are committed to consistently improving our laboratory.
Immunity
Electromagnetic Immunity refers to the built-in safeguards to protect a device against Conducted and Radiated Emissions. Immunity tests include Electro-Static Discharge (ESD), Radiated RF Immunity (RFI), Electrical Fast Transients (EFT), Lightning Transients (Surge), Conducted RF Immunity (CRFI), Power Frequency Magnetic Fields (Mag), Voltage Dips, Interruptions and Short Variations (VDips).
Wireless
Devices that communicate Over the Air (OTA) require regulatory testing for the various economies around the world. We provide wireless testing for the USA (FCC), Canada (ISED), Australia/New Zealand (ACMA/RSM) and European Union (EN/ETSI Series) for CE Marking application of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED).
